Here is my look for the Modern Era challenge for Project Sewn! I’m a tad behind their schedule, but hey! I’m not competing anymore, so who cares! Ha! Finding out that one of the challenges was to pick any modern era and sew a look for it was like going to the largest candy store in existence and having your mom tell you you can buy only one piece of candy. There are so many amazing eras to choose from! It took me for-ev-ver to figure out what I wanted to do. I eventually went to the fabric store with my one year old, and told myself I had until his patience wore out fabric shopping to finalize my plans. That was a fun fabric store moment! And I succeeded. I choose the big band, fun dancing, out all night, swing era!I adore the fashion from the 1940s. The dress pattern I choose was the Butterick B5209 pattern. It is retro inspired and you can make the dress as a halter or with sleeves. While I was in the middle of my epic fabric shopping experience with my son, I came across this blue polka dot fabric and knew that I had found THE fabric. Fitting for the era I choose, I want to dance all night in this dress! Also, I needed a jacket to go with my dress, right? So I made the Long Sleeve Blazer from Burda Style. This was the first time I made a lined blazer. And my goodness, I’m in love with this pattern! The fit is amazing! This yellow balzer is going to be on constant rotation in my fall wardrobe. Although I’m no longer a contestant, I still have my graphic print look that I will be posting soon. I need to finish a top and get it photographed. So it’s still coming! 2. Apologies for not having this up Monday as promised! A migraine settled in for the weekend and ruined all my plans. Jerk.
